Are you interested in reading through the Bible this year? Click on the title of this post, it will lead you to a site that has a link to a set of charts with dates that correspond to chapters of the Bible. If you do visit the site, click on the words: "Schedule to Read the Bible in a Year (.pdf) *" to view it in an Adobe reader and print it out if you'd like. Besides, then you won't have to make a new years resolution to lose weight (like my Dad). By the way, that's not a good reason to read your Bible (so you don't have to lose weight).
The chart you'll see will be a "beginning to end" chart, as opposed to an "Old/New Testament" chart, "historical" chart, or "chronological" chart. The differences between these scheduled readings is how they walk you through the Bible.
The "beginning to end" plan leads you through the Bible as if you were turning it's pages from left to right. In other words, it takes you right through the Bible, beginning with Genesis, then Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers...
The "Old/New Testament" planner takes you through both the Old and New Testament at the same time. For example, if you used this method you would begin reading Genesis, and Matthew on the same day.
The "historical" schedule for reading advises you to read the books of the Bible in order of the estimated times when they were written.
The "chronological" chart walks you right through the history of the Bible, presenting to you the books in the order of their occurrence. Because Job lived after creation yet before Abraham was born, (Genesis chapter 12) the book of Job is read in between the book of Genesis.
I'm not sure why all these methods are used. But they're out there if you ever want to read the Bible in those ways, whatever suits your fancy. Happy New year, and if you don't decide to read the Bible through, losing weight is a pretty good idea.

Hey, thank you so much for your comment - it was very encouraging. I'm glad I was helpful in that area and I look forward to reading your post (I know how controversial it is!!).
And yes, I've thought about life without Christ and cannot imagine how anyone could live in this world without Him; just thinking of difficult times, I wouldn't make it without Him and His comfort and guidance!
Also, I didn't even know I was using a verse from the Roman Doxology lol. I don't even know if I've heard the Roman Doxology - I've heard the traditional doxology, but how does the Roman Doxology go?
Have a Happy New Year too! Lane
Hi Bob,
Yeah, this is phenomenal. Think about it. If I wanted to mind this awesome information, I would have to hunt it down myself. And for a homeschooler, I'm pretty darn busy between ballet, music, film school, etcetera, etcetera. So thanks.
I kind of want to do both, personal and glorifying God.
I don't know, like tying morals into it like I did with the skate story?
Yes!! This is the plan! I REALLY want to do it this year. I don't want my Bible reading to fall through the cracks of my life. I will be praying that you can finnish it, and stay on track. I believe that you can do it! I almost to Deuteronomy, so yeah.
Happy New year! Man, look out world! Here we come!!

cool roadmaps to the Bible.
It can definitely seem an overwhelming task to dive into. It's cool to have different options.
I've read it "cover-to-cover" before. Not an easy task, but worth it.
For me, it's more fun to read by subject/study matter and kind of bounce around based on related material. The prophecies of Isaiah followed by the 'gospels' in the New Testament, for example.
Still, to be sure you catch it all, it's cool to have a roadmap like one of these.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy new year Bob! Here is to '09!!!
btw, we picked up a copy of "Expelled" and plan on watching it tomorow with family. Haha, my Mom found me staring, mouth open, totally in a trance, watching the trailer in "Family Christian Store". It looks so awesome! I can't wait!

That's great! Thanks for that! I think the "historical" one looks cool.
I'm so glad someone got something out of my post. I didn't know if it made much sense. I feel really bad that I've been so inconsistent with posting. I'm going to try and get back on track again. The holidays have been crazy.
How was your Christmas? Mine went good. I had a nice time visiting family.

Hey Bob,
Yeah, I'm so sorry I never introduced myself.
Emma, over at The Next Generation Is Us, is one of my best friends. Actually, she got me into the blogging thing in the first place. I didn't read blogs a lot, though, back then. Not enough time.
But, last fall, I got sick.
I was down for quite some time actually. Two months.
During this period, I guess you realize that you need God so bad.
All my fears came on so strong.
I was so weak.
I was afraid I'd never dance again.
Never skate again.
Never be on a soccer team again.
So I started getting curious.
I started reading these blogs.
And through Emma's,
I found yours.
And it has been such an encouragement.
Seriously. I am not just saying it to say something.
Finally,
I am on my feet. I can't stop dancing, ask anybody who knows me. I can ollie higher than before. I can sing again. I am seriously pouring time into guitar.
And everyday, I thank God I'm alive.
Because I realized this, that breathing is not living.
Really, living isn't living if it's not all for God.
Like that worship song: "It's all for him or all for nothing, give him praise or give him nothing"
I want to live radically.
Haha, I wish I could have emailed this instead of posting it. But I understand the privacy issue.
But if you ever want to email me, don't feel bad, cos the email I have on my profile is one I started just for my blogs contact. Its not my personal one. LOL.
I'm not dumb.
I LOVED EXPELLED!!
I have to write about it in a post, I'm taking too much space here.
Hoping your New Years was Awesome,
Jillian
Spending time reading your Bible every day one of the best things you can do... that and daily prayer. Think of it as communicating: God speaking to you through His word, and you speaking to Him.
Getting started can be difficult, and it may seem more like a chore than conversation at first, but stick with it. I've been through my Bible many times (although not always in a year), and I find that God speaks to me more and more about Himself through the pages of what He's written. I'm not the journaling type, but I do keep a journal of what I find out about God in my readings and I recommend that to everyone. It helps to remember and think about His character and nature, and things He does. And that leads to trusting, loving, and obeying Him more. It's all about knowing Him.
Yep, sounds familiar lol Hope you had a Happy New Year!
Uncle Andrew, Thanks for continuing to read what I've written and comment on it. A lot of times, the people who I give my blog address to only come by once and then forget about it. Your one of the only people I've met in person that has started to visit and comment here regularly . So thanks for that and your advice, I'll try that. - Bob
Hey Bob,
I am so excited!
I love this blog thing. O course with school starting again, it might not be so busy. But a few days ago, I did an article on worship. I was curious as to how you stand on this subject. You are a Baptist? I have never really checked that denomination out before. Hmm.
So, you've been busy reading blogs and writing blogs. Is there any time left for those who love you lots? Only kidding, Bob!!You are a true jewel; many are aware of that fact, I see!! LOL
Hey GT, I'm a jewel? - Bob
Yep, worth more than any other jewel BUT most times you are a gem (only kidding.)
gt, I don't know the difference between them.
Hi Bob,
I think that's neat about the worship thing.
But okay, I need some Baptists 101.
My Mom wants us to go to a Batist church on Sunday, and I have NO clue what to expect. My Mom thinks she finally has it right. Allow me to explain:
My Mom's whole adult life has been devoted to finding truth. Because, coincidently, I am her daughter, I have been to many different churches across my almost 15 years of life (yeah, I'm not 15 quite yet, but my Dad suggested I say so). We started Catholic, and went from there. Some churches were rather weird. Some were rather boring. But some I loved a lot, and it hurt when we moved on. I love the one we're at now. But something in my gut is telling me Mom is going to eat this thing up.
Ugh, I'm so sick of being "the new girl".
If you could help me out, it would be much apreciated.
Well, I guess I'll see you Sunday, LOL. I'm joking. But wouldent that be the weirdest thing? Haha.
Bye,
Jillian
Btw, I am curious as to what anonymos meant too.
That was weird...
hi. no, im not a Christian :)
Hey, glad the post was encouraging. I think that is such an amazing truth. The pain we endure is given so that more praise and glory is bestowed upon Christ. I pray that in ALL things, He is glorified. In death or in life, I want His name to be praised and His name to be made known!
Hey Bob,
Church was interesting.
I mean it was different than what I'm used too, but the traditionalism was comforting, in a way. I mean it seemed like something people have been doing for a long time, and that was nice. Also, I planing on joining the youth group, if we attend. But I have a so many friends at my church...
If you could pray that we would have wisdom, I would appreciate it,
Jillian
Thanks!
Jill
